Annual Volunteer Opportunities

We have long-term volunteer opportunities that we recruit for each year. If you’re looking for a chance to connect with your community and help the local environment, one of these roles might be for you. Apply online through this page during the recruitment period listed for each role.

What: Community Stewardship Volunteer Leaders provide valuable leadership at community and corporate events, like tree plantings, invasive species removals, litter clean-ups and more.

You will play an important role by assisting CVC staff in setting up and taking down events, guiding and connecting with participants and delivering event activities.

Recruitment: We accept applications from mid-January to mid-March.

What: Glendale Rain Garden Stewards play a crucial role in the upkeep and maintenance of the rain garden. Responsibilities include regular unsupervised weeding, pruning and general garden maintenance. Stewards work closely with CVC’s Community Stewardship team and other volunteers to ensure the garden remains healthy, thriving and visually appealing.

Recruitment: We accept applications from March to May.

What: Youth Stewardship Leaders work alongside CVC staff to provide valuable support for youth stewardship events across the watershed for our Conservation Youth Corps (CYC) and Branch Out programs. CYC runs from July to August and Branch Out runs in the spring and fall months.

Recruitment: We accept applications from March to August.

What: During Maple Syrup in the Park at Terra Cotta Conservation Area, we look for volunteers to assist with different roles that help provide a fun experience for families. Roles include:

  • Welcome Booth Greeters who are responsible for greeting event attendees and providing basic event information and highlight special event offerings.
  • Taffy Station Assistants who learn how to make maple taffy in real time and help serve maple taffy-on-ice to visitors.
  • General Event Assistants that support various event needs, including parking, guiding visitors to special event offerings and helping in the Park Store or Sugar Shack.

Recruitment: We accept applications from February to March.
